Before we dive into the world of Easter decorations, it’s good to know what exactly to look for when it comes to designing and decorating a tabletop. Similar to how expansive Christmas decorations and themes have become, Easter decor has come a long way.
You can stick with traditional designs that feature lots of pastels, or you can flex your creative muscles to match popular home decor themes like a modern farmhouse. With so many options available, I like to ask myself the following questions to help narrow down not only a design theme but also how much is actually needed. This simple step can save you time and money when it comes to getting your home ready for Easter guests.
- How many people are you expecting? If you’re expecting only a few guests, you can narrow down a place setting decorations and spend more time on a centerpiece, etc. If you anticipate multiple guests, you may have to get creative when it comes to seating, which can impact purchase decisions like table settings, table cloths, etc., to accommodate everyone.
- What is your Easter tabletop vision? Are you into a traditional Beatrix Potter-like design? Or would you rather match the rest of your home decor and colors to create one cohesive look? Having an idea in mind of what you would like to create will help you weed through the tons of options.
- Work with your space. When picking out decorations, consider the space you’re working with. Do you have a long or large table but are expecting just a few guests? By spacing out seating placements and using the entire table, you’ll feel less “squished” and feel more balanced in your design. If you have a chandelier or hanging light element, consider using ornaments or faux flowers that attract guests’ eyes upward giving more depth to your room.
- Be budget-friendly by repurposing past decor. I will fully admit I am that person who wants an overhaul of new decorations each year. While it’s certainly fun to shop for, my bank account (and my storage space) don’t see eye to eye with me on this one. Do a quick inventory of your past decor and keep items that are in good shape to mix in with new purchases.
